Chef Ahn Sung-jae, judge on Netflix's 'Culinary Class Wars,' has publicly apologized after his fine dining restaurant Mosu Seoul was accused of switching wines without customer consent.
According to Chosun, the controversy erupted when a diner claimed Mosu Seoul served a different wine than ordered during a 420,000 won ($320) per person dinner.
Mosu Seoul confirmed the incident in a statement on April 23, saying the wine was swapped due to a supply issue, but admitted the change was not communicated to the guest.
Ahn wrote: 'I deeply apologize for the failure in service. We will ensure full transparency going forward.' The restaurant also offered a refund to the affected customer.
Mosu Seoul gained fame after Ahn's appearance on the Netflix show. A two-person dinner with wine pairing can exceed 1 million won ($760).
The apology comes amid heightened scrutiny of high-end dining in Korea, with netizens divided over whether the apology is sufficient.
